VII International Quartet Academy -Vic 2023

During five days Vic will again become an international reference point regarding the study and deepening in the string quartet specialty. But not only: we will also deal with other string ensembles with different instruments, like trios or quintets, among others. The classes will be taught by ABEL TOMÀS, renowned players and teachers of international prestige in the field of chamber music, especially in that of the string quartet and string ensembles with piano.

The project will be completed with the classes taught by the QUARTET GERHARD also to string quartets or other string ensembles with different instruments that come out of music schools and conservatories.

In both cases the repertoire will be freely chosen by each ensemble that takes part in the project.

As a result of this immersion the Quartet Gerhard will perform with some of the ensembles on Friday, July the 21st at 20h at L’Atlàntida, Centre d’Arts Escèniques d’Osona. The concert will be open to all members of the community.

The ensembles working with the Quartet Gerhard will give a concert on Friday, July the 21st (afternoon) at Sala Joan Anglada.

During the International Quartet Academy Vic 2023 musical interventions by the ensembles that take part in it might be organized in different halls of the city.

As a novelty, this year the Quartet Academy together with Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya have created an award, La Flama, aimed at the Catalan ensembles that take part in the project.

LA FLAMA award

La Flama, by Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya and the Quartet Academy.

La Flama, by the Vic Quartet Academy and Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, is intended to spur the first blaze of the new Catalan chamber ensembles. With the endorsement of Gerard Claret, Abel Tomàs (member of Quartet Casals) and the Federació de Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, every year the most promising ensemble in every category among those taking part in the Quartet Academy will be chosen. The organization reserves the right to declare the award void.

The award consists of a first presentation concert at the Petit Palau of Palau de la Música Catalana and the inclusion in the net of Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya, which will allow the awarded ensembles to tour the country.
